The film adaptation of Monster Hunter had a little help from another major game franchise in its production. According to the director of the film, Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil), there are some elements of a side mission for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, released for PSP, in his work, which opens in Brazilian cinemas on December 31.
According to Anderson, who is a big fan of the Capcom franchise, the reminder that, in Peace Walker, Solid Snake faces Rathalos and Tigrex from Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, another game released for PSP, helped immerse the film’s protagonist, Lieutenant Artemis. In this case, Artemis, played by Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil), is the one who enters the world of monsters, just like Snake in the game.
“I was very influenced by a crossover that Monster Hunter did with Metal Gear Solid. Monster Hunter This is a great image to counter a man with a machine gun shooting at the creatures,” said Anderson in a broadcast by the United States’ Capcom Twitch. He also explained that he wants to highlight people’s overconfidence in technology, something that, according to him, will upset Artemis in the Monster Hunter yahoo entertainment plot.
Reproduction of what is in the game
As a fan of the franchise for 12 years, Anderson revealed that he made some very peculiar choices for his adaptation. He explains, for example, that he did not want to bring an already existing character in games to the film to create an environment in which to give viewers a sense of novelty. The director also revealed how the monsters and superweapons that appeared in the games were created, as well as Jovovich’s preferences in handling them.
Monster Hunter will be released in the United States on December 25 and 31 of the same month in Brazil.
